  • Start as soon as possible after symptoms start.
  • Blow your nose – thoroughly.
  • Block one nostril at a time.
  • Critical temperature is 43 – 47ºC.
  • Regulate temperature of vapour breathed in by varying distance from water surface.
  • It should feel hot on your face but not painful either on your skin or in your nose.
  • Keep going after symptoms have gone.
  • It takes some effort if your nose is partially blocked – keep yourself motivated – remember the misery of your last cold!
  • Keep warm for 24 hours after treating a cold
  • Think about vitamin supplements if you think your immune system may not be very effective.
